Its perfectly acceptable, considering that the person who made the original statement isn't around to interpret it further and in physics two opposing views can both be correct. Not unlike market discussions. What I have a problem with is when people lob one more stone while saying "I don't want to argue with you about this". If you really want to agree to disagree then you shouldn't throw in one last argument. But you can't help yourself. You can't stand arguing with me but you can't seem to keep from making comments about what I post. Maybe there's a 12 step program available for you. Perhaps a little more meditation....
