OT -- This is a reference to one of Buddhist schools of thought. Unlike other schools that aim to diminish desire and to remain "aloof" towards the world, Tantra school believes in using all the energies around to propel you towards enlightenment. For example, whereas most other Buddhist monks are celibate, in Tantra it is quite valid to seek enlightenment and unity through sex. The danger here is that you may get pulled in the wrong way and rather than achieving unity, peace, and harmony with the world around you, you become addicted to its ways. To call this path "eating a porcupine" is a reference to an act that can lead to very unpleasant consequences if you don't do it right and give in to temptations. I thought it was an apt analogy, albeit an obscure one.
