Hi elmatador,

Things points to the worse in Argentina

I'm hearing much the same thing from people I know that invest in South American equities and funds.

Regardless of who ultimately wins the election in Argentina, more than 75% of the people will not have voted for the winner in the first election. This will ultimately lead to discontent and possible civil unrest. The great unknown is how this discontent will manifest itself in the markets of Argentina, and whether or not this discontent will spread to other areas of South America, in particular Colombia, Brazil and Venezuela.

I know that my acquaintances are looking at dumping one stock where they claim to have made some money, (CRESY??? I think was the symbol). It was a stock profiled not too long ago in one of the major US newspapers or magazines. I remember it because someone here (energyplay???, Jay???) was going to sink a few dollars into it. Anyway, these guys don't stay in a stock long enough to see what it can do. They always jump after seeing the first ripple in a pond... They also dumped their Brazil Fund holdings on the theory that what happens in Argentina will ultimately play out in Brazil. Since I currently have nothing in South America, I'm content to sit on the sidelines and see if they're right or wrong. Either way, I can't lose anything, except maybe opportunity... <g>
