I'd rather focus on his current policies, or lack of them,

I think most of us would, but if other posters are going to bring forward unsubstantiated allegations and serious accusations, it is appropriate for those allegations and accusations to be disputed if posters feel they are invalid.

For example, there is a vast difference between having a drinking issue and being an alcoholic. A large number of college students today have drinking issues, but they are not alcoholics.

Similarly, there is a vast difference between using cocaine, if Bush did that, which has certainly been alleged but has never been proved, and being a cocaine addict. Cocaine addiction is a term of art for a specific medical and psychological condition. There is, as far as I know, no credible evidence that Bush was ever a cocaine addict. If he had been, then either he would have had to undergo significant treatment, or he would still be one. Neither of those seems to be alleged, let alone proved.

It may be moderate or liberal politically to attack a politician with unsubstantiated charges, but it is hardly moderate or liberal in tone, as this board seeks to encourage, to throw around such charges without offering a shred of proof of the allegations, and when challenged to say simply "you look it up."

If you want to focus on Bush's present policies, which are fair game and appropriate for discussion, on this board, IMO you need to clean up the sort of posting which forces people into discussions of past issues and situations.
