Attacks increase pressure on fragile ties between US and Saudi Arabia

The attacks strengthen ties between the US and the government of Saudi Arabia - it is probably causing them to think again about whether they really want the US to pull out. The attacks also show that it is not US policy and presence that the terrorists oppose - it is stability in Saudi Arabia that they oppose and anti-American hatred that they stir up and thrive off of. If troops actually pulled out, they would have less chance of gaining greater domestic support and less chance of toppling the government in favor of their own totalitarian dream.

<< where their presence had been a long-standing source of resentment.>>

The real long-standing source of resentment is the fanatical muslims' inability to accomplish anything in life other than breed hatred.

It's the same way in Indonesia, where the islamic Indonesians are always attacking the Chinese people, esp the chinese merchants and businesspeople - because they can earn a living and the nutty muslims just can't seem to.
