This might be too dramatic a shift for the company to take, but to us it seems like a very tempting proposition, given the prospects for Velcade sales. It is essentially the strategy that QualComm took when it went from a manufacturing company to a pure royalty company with some profits going into R&D.

All due respect to Robert V. Green, it is quite flawed logic to compare a wireless company basing its royalities on patents covering contributions to standards bodies with a biotech company requiring significantly more research effort in getting a product from the lab, past the F.D.A. to the shelf before truly securing royalty revenue. But that's just MHO.

Also interesting is the fact that the FDA approved this drug on the Fast Track in only four months, two months sooner than they had to act. This is a dramatic indicator of the state of mind at the FDA and it bodes well for the drug development cycle overall, particularly for Fast Track drugs.

Again, I beg to differ, though perhaps less so than above. Perhaps FDA approval of MLNM's V may be disease driven, with few options available to treat MM? Maybe MLNM's the evidence supporting it benefits and against its toxicity was overwhelming? Can Mr. Green read tea leaves too? I suppose time will tell regarding the FDA, but as a long term shareholder of MLNM, by way of CORR, I am cannot deny that today I do not totally care why, but am just happy with the result.
