To: Knighty Tin who wrote (452 ) 5/15/2003 3:26:35 PM From: Nemer Respond to of 1269 Mike .. I've decided to bet ONLY straight AND exactas this Preakness ... no tri at all .... nada ... the pair .... S and SS ---and your other mentioned CB ... I have none of the three in the win or place hole ..... so there won't be any exacta ticket from me even with them on the bottom and I'm glad that there is an entry here, for it will drive down the odds on the pair and up the odds a tad on mine .... after looking at what I can find up to right now ... Peace Rules isn't likely to workout before the race, and that somewhat confirms my belief that the Derby took a toll that Funny Cide did not pay (he had a great bullet w/o this week) so ... there will be NO win bet from me on Peace Rules ... he is now eliminated from my Win list leaving me with these remaining .... 4) Kissin Saint ... and he most likely will be discarded as being too slow ... along with being too cheap ... but not yet 6) Midway Road ... firm on a win wager here ... just how much is the question, but it won't be large at any rate 7) Peace Rules ... will keep him in the exacta grouping, but out for a straight bet 8) New York Hero ... this one will WIN or be off the board, so probably I'll have him on top ONLY in an exacta 9) Funny Cide ... the most likely to win I see NRH going to the lead, and Peace Rules following verrrrrrry closely (I'm not sure PR can be successfully rated yet) with FC about fourth or fifth and Kissin Saint up there also ..... NYH is the only horse who I feel can go wire to wire and should he fail at that, he will not hit the board. Peace Rules has to sustain his drive into the stretch after he takes the lead from NYH and I'm thinking right now that the Derby sapped him some ... so, he falters, the way I see it IF there is any heated and decisive speed in the last turn and down the straightaway ... IF there is none .. Peace Rules can hold on to win.... Kissin Saint has to be very lucky and have things go all his way in the pace struggle AND have enough speed/class to bring it (not sure that he has either) Midway Road is the best longshot by far and can win this race ........ I'll have him on every exacta ticket unless I change my mind later towards post time .... I see three horses who, given them running the race of their young lives, can hit the board, even on top ... Kissin Saint, Midway Road, and New York Hero ... and Peace Rules "holding on to win" at best with Funny Cide having the best shot to win, and definitely an easier race than he had in the Derby ... got to leave now ... hope someone else wakes up on the thread .... hello .....
