It didn't go down.

Wasn't it supposed to go down? Wasn't industrial production anemic? Wasn't capacity too slack? Wasn't inflation too low? Weren't unemployment claims too high? Weren't General Motors' (NYSE:GM - News) sales too weak?

Sure, today we got a boatload of economic data that really stunk up the joint. But the market saw much that it liked at the individual company level. First, we are seeing a pickup in some tech orders in wireless. Second, we are seeing some signs that the housing boom, which looked like it was flagging, is about to get another boost from refinancings. Can you believe it?
