RE: "...IT Doesn't Matter... and ...Does technology really matter?...”

I believe that IT is growing less important and technology is growing more important. IT (information technology) has been primarily aimed at improving business efficiency and productivity through the application of computer systems and communication systems to handling business data (information).

There are limits to the marginal improvements to business productivity and efficiency now that technology has been pretty much pervasively applied by most businesses for a reasonably long while. On the other hand, technology is just getting cheap enough to start to be part of every product that people use in the non-business part of their lives. The marginal improvements spurred by advances in technology are mind boggling in this realm. IT will benefit and improve from this trend, but it will be relatively modest in comparison.
