You can't tell by a name. After all, who would guess that someone named Neocon would turn out to be Jewish? However, Olcott was certainly not Jewish. lockport-ny.com George Graff, Jr. (not merely George Graff) is more elusive. Though I don't know whether Jewish families then ever used the Jr. designation -- I have never seen it used, but that doesn't mean it wasn't. But I can't find out much about him.
