This thread seems very PC-centric. When I read about IT stagnation, as a software person I know you must be talking about PCs and the old "knowledge worker" concept. You can't possibly be talking about the main thrust in IT software which are web sales and fulfillment, and its sister b2b sourcing which is very early on in the adoption cycle.

I think the PC portion of the IT budget is probably still the largest, which means you may be technically correct (for the time being) that IT and business process re-engineering is stagnant based on dollars alone. I think we're getting ready for a new wave of growth starting in 2004 for e-tail though. Anyway I agree with you the consumer market is next, bigger and a better mkt for technology than corporate IT anyway.
