First Megapixel Camera Phone Unveiled
Jay Wrolstad , Wireless.NewsFactor.com

Japanese wireless (news - web sites) operator J-Phone has taken the wraps off the world's first camera phone capable of photographing 1 million pixels, raising the bar -- at least temporarily -- for the competition.

The first batch of 300 megapixel phones, made by Sharp, will hit the shelves of J-Phone stores in Tokyo on Thursday, with a nationwide launch to follow.

I predict within 3 years they will have wireless videophones, and within 5 to 7 years they will have high definition wireless videophones, that tie into wi-fi networks. That would really push demand for the new Intel wi-fi chips. Microsoft someday could create a program for Windows that promotes sharing live and stored broadcasts from family and friends. They could automate the collection and storage of images from phone cameras and make it easy for the person broadcasting to pick lists of family or friends that they want to broadcast to. The receiving person could set up a home page that lists the incoming images for retrieval or live viewing. Like a News Headline summary page for the day.

If it ever happens the storage requirements will be huge.
