I'd start over from scratch. Uninstall the software and remove the printer cable from the computer and then restart. Shut down again and hook your printer up and restart and follow the instructions below (from Canon site) to the letter.

How do I install the i320 printer driver on a Windows computer?

Important Notice

After turning on your computer and before inserting the i320 Setup Software and User's Guide CD-ROM, close all applications including virus protection programs.

It is recommended to keep the printer turned off prior to starting the printer driver installation. You will be advised when to turn on the printer. If the printer was already turned on and connected while your computer was on, click the appropriate button to cancel any windows that may have detected the i320. Then press the POWER button to turn off the printer.

Confirm the printer cable is connected properly to the computer and to the printer.

For Windows XP and Windows 2000, log on to Windows as an Administrator before continuing.

1. Insert the i320 Setup Software and User's Guide CD-ROM.

2. When the main menu appears, click the Install button. The printer driver will start loading automatically. Note: if this is the first time you have installed the printer driver, the License Agreement will precede the main menu. After you have read the License Agreement, click Yes to proceed with the Installation.

3. Wait until the Printer Port window appears then turn on the printer so the printer port connection can be detected. If the printer is not detected, press the POWER button to turn off the printer. Confirm the printer cable is securely connected to the computer and the printer. Then, press the POWER button on the printer. The computer will detect the printer.

4. The Terminate Installation window will display when the driver installation is completed. Click the OK button. Note: If this is the first time you have installed the printer driver, the Product Registration screen will appear. After completing the registration, proceed to the next step.

5. The main menu will reappear. The Application item will be highlighted in the menu. If an application is already installed, the name of the application will be grayed out. Click the Install button to install the software.

6. Proceed through the screens and complete the installation of the software.

7. The main menu will reappear. The Documentation item will be highlighted in the menu. Clicking the View Documents button will attempt to install the i320 User Guide to your computer.
