This nicely sums up the Israel/Palestine debate in America. It is normally suppressed completely, but when allowed, it goes something like this: The "Israeli" side: "The basic trouble with the two-state solution is that the Palestinians themselves do not want it. Hamas says so, Hizbullah says so, and Arafat says so in Arabic as if no one could translate." (Patently false, since the Palestinians have repeatedly offered Israel for a two-state solution for decades. To add to the deception, there is no mention of the Israeli rejectionists, who are far more mainstream than Hamas.) The "Palestinian" retort: "No one actually knows the answer to the question, how would the Palestinians react to a two state solution, until it's tried, seriously" Not patently false.
