The one difference between Mohammed al Dura's death and your 'normal' urban street fight is the videotape.

Oh there are plenty of videotapes... like the triumphant lynching of a couple Israeli soldiers by a mob of Palestinians, complete with one gleefully holding up both bloody hands in the window, and the crowd beating and stomping to death one of the soldiers who'd been thrown to the mob below.

Some to live on in everyone's memory, and some to be conveniently and swiftly forgotten.

It's like the Pimsleur language learning technique. One has to be systematically reminded again and again, just before a memory fades, in order to commit words and phrases to permanent memory. That's probably why we never hear the end of certain things that happened in 1948 when most all else necessary to put any of it in context has been forgotten.
