Performance: If you're familiar with how I do things on iHub at all (ask anyone if you're not), I worship at the altar of Speed. It's important to me that an interface performs very quickly. I hate lag of any kind. Even if performance is more than good enough, I spend a lot of time making things more efficient to the point that I'm happy even if users can't tell a difference, but I know that I've lopped another 1% off of server and bandwidth utilization. That said, I will not be able to address any performance issues for a while. The conversion from Oracle to SQL Server and the tweaking that will follow that could very well address some performance issues, but I suspect that most of the changes won't be seen until I've rewritten the interface to be an ASP app instead of GSP. If you do a View Source on the pages here then do the same on iHub, you'll see what I'm talking about. Last I checked, the pages here were about 4 times larger for an identical message on both sites. That consumes bandwidth and increases workload for webservers. That will be addressed in the interface re-write. Let me reiterate that the interface re-write does NOT involve changing the look and feel of the site or any of the functionality. The same look(s) and feel(s) will remain intact but will be delivered in a way that's more bandwidth- and server-friendly, along with being done in a language I'm expert in so can easily maintain and modify.
