I understand what you are saying but the info isn't accurate. Japan has the large saving pool in the world and much of that isn't even in banks. Yes, there were some outlandish spending in Japan but it was certainly the minority. But of course this is what the press thrives on.

American consumer debt problem is a much bigger problem than what is happening in Japan. That is one of the reasons why the Yen has remained relatively strong over the last 10 years compared to what the dolar is doing. It is likely to get very ugly in the U.S. in the coming years which is not a good sign for SGI or most stocks on wall street.
