res- Meaningless rituals. John, it may give you comfort to believe that, but I doubt they are meaningless to the people who participate in them. In God we trust is on our bills and coins, the President takes an oath with his hand placed on the Bible, we swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth "so help me God" in our courts of law. Symbols of our religious heritage are on many of the oldest buildings in D.C. The Declaration of Independence states self evident truths were endowed by the Creator with a capital "C". They form the vision of the American Republic. That all men are created equal, that they are endowed with unalienable rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It's chic and popular in many quarters today to believe American society was built on a secularist belief system, but to do so, is to deny the very history of our Republic.
