I have been warning people about that guy for three years, maybe more.

He was once suspended from SI for doing that. He probably does more damage, though, by his glib palaver about stocks and the market. Well, maybe not. If you follow his suggestions you have a 50-50 chance of being right.

Everything I know about securities law tells me this is an illegal solicitation.

Unless you can site specific law, or case law, making a case for a breach, I'll assume you were just trying to be funny (it worked). Otherwise, I'd like to hear your non-legal opinion to see whether or not your knowledge of SL started and ended with the movie Wall Street that's implied in that statement.

It'd take class to PM that to Bob first, or Zeev, since you're not a lawyer, and are uncertain with the legality. This way, you could have saved yourself from further potential embarrassment, and addressed your discomfort with said issue.

i just ran across your post here because it was referenced by someone on ihub... i got that exact PM a few months back also... seems he has spammed half of ihub looking for "investors", and has apparently been spamming the same offer for years
