Popular culture refers generally to the major culture conduits of the mass media, those that tend to be consumed by a large segment of the population, such as network television shows, top forty music, and blockbuster movies. The wider culture has to do with the customs, beliefs, and practices that are dominant, or prevail among a large group of people (such as teenagers). According to both, the characteristics which specifically differentiate the sexes can be exaggerated to the poles I mentioned.
