Upstream you stated that capital was mobile, and will search out higher yield. Using your own premise then capital sought out an area that, for whatever reason, produced superior returns.

Therefore, “tech venture capital” wasn’t a necessary precondition for the beginning of the tech boom in this area. Consider that HP started in a garage and the Varian brothers in a barn.

You really have two points: SV tech concentration was an accident, and mistaking this accident for talent - SV laborers have become non-competitive because of excessive compensation demands

I believe that this area’s tolerance for diversity of lifestyles and cultures, and a strong sense of individualism and self-reliance, are the only necessary precondition for its success. Primarily because it attracts the most difficult commodity to acquire – human capital.
