Gold breaking new channels & the dollar breaking down

After all that Gold lovers and investors have been through so far this year, it seemed unlikely that more drama was in store for a while, and yet here we are a full year from the time when Gold broke through the $300 level and for the second time since then we have another full fledged major rally ongoing. Obviously this is due primarily to the present simultaneous collapse of the dollar, and the yet again renewed fears and worries brought on by terrorism, and then not to forget those associated with what does look now to be a turn downward for the markets in general, after a rally which many questioned even before it began, and yet one which has been stronger than expected by most observers from all angles far and wide both bull and bear.

President Bush has proposed shifting the U.S. tax system to
one that taxes consumption rather than income. The change
would be as historically significant as America's shift from
a tariff-based tax system in the nineteenth century to an
income-based tax system in the twentieth. Such an approach is
critical; it is essential for the future health of the
nation. So I hope it actually happens.

I'd love to see some comments about this idea. This indeed would be a dramatic change.
