I agree with you completely. But that is why I was saying that LindyBill's claim that Christianity and Islam could be in part characterized by their "doctrinal" separation of church and state (or, in the case of Islam, not so) is silly. Interpretation is everything, contrary to what "purists" of any stripe maintain. This is true whether the "purist" is making claims about some "religion" or, to give a more secular contemporary example, about the US Constitution, and "the original intent of the founders."
