>>PRESSURE OF THE SOCIETY<< A short story, may I.

My first job was in a very let's say capitalistic environment - and that was something like 68 in YU -: we all had our own internal accounts and full revenue control and then divied up for this and for that etc.

Now, at some monday staff meeting a suggestion came that the department give some money out of the common till for Sick Kids(Incubators drive).

What followed was a big aha for me: the boss said "I'll match one to one, what you give". Put up or shut up. Commit your own money, not somebody else's.

Back to pressure: we of course are all for
a) clean air
b) efficient cars
c) (add your own favorites)

but

a) it should be the government
b) and btw their taxes are killing me and
c) they are so d*n socialist, meddling with things, market should decide
d) (add your own favorite joke or gripe about government)

so how should >>PRESSURE OF THE SOCIETY<< be instrumentalized? Is this not the job description for a government? Maybe it's the wrong government, but heck let's get a better one. Does not change the argument however.

end of rant
