School/studying has to be managed like any investment strategy. Then school would make sense. But just send a child to school and expect that a government institution takes care fo his/her?

Well, just look at people who contribute to pensions for 30 yeras expecting a government institution to take care of them and you'll what I am trying to say.

FIRST: Do not learn only the language of the country you were born.

SECOND: Track closely the school of your child by pressing the school, teachers and managers there. (Actually I kick their asses really badly) My wife points to any sign of incompetence of their part.

THIRD: Whatever your child do well, make him/her make even better on that. Whatever him/her is weak in, correct it yourself.

Once she gest 12 years old you don't have to take care anymore, they've got the point by them.
