Everybody feels superior to everone else :-) Its human nature.

Canadians generally feel pretty smug next to Americans because they have a generally better 'average' lifestyle. Not as high as in the US, but never as low either. Better 'safety net' etc

What happens sometimes with Canadian's like Frum is their internal politics bleeds over into foreign policy discussions. Right now there is a lot of debate internally in Canada about the handling of the relationship with the US.
