Interesting thought, but that would have to mean that the employees would have to own enough shares outright in order to receive enough dividends to be equal to their market rate compensation. I seriously doubt the majority of employees own that many shares. In addition, you don't get dividends on stock options. Also, if I owned enough shares to receive dividends in an amount that could replace my salary at a company, I would still demand fair cash compensation. Otherwise, I'd go to another company and work where I could get paid and still continue to receive my dividends from the previous company since I am an owner.
