Well, things have started to change since 2002. As more Chinese can afford to consume more, China will not have to depend on exporting so much, and other Asian countries can also export more to China.

And I agree that the market in developed countries, especially the US, is fully saturated. Someone jokes that one aspect of the US culture is to shop until they drop for the goods they do not need, and then leave them in the garage for a couple of years, and then sell them in the garage sale.<g>

And talk about "barren, unproductive", what is more "barren and unproductive" than gambling? And now it is an ever so-popular trend for a lot of US state and local governments to push to allow gambling everywhere.
