Unfortunately, by picking Greenspan to support your position that options are a good thing and shouldn't be expensed,

That was not my position.

My point was that sometimes people take statements like... "a lot of excess was generated by options in the 90s"... and interpret those statements as something like.. "options are fraudulent and should be expensed using the Black-Scholes method in all cases".

So based on this, I don't pay too much mind to individual sound bytes, quotes from misc sources or whatever.

If someone makes a statement at a forum specifically chartered to discuss options... and they make a point in that session to say that they believe options should be expensed in all cases with the black-scholes method, then I would consider that to be a definative answer as to how person x or y feel on the issue.
