Fundamentals. On the other hand, what might cause "this time to be different"? You have, in short order (1) a U.S. Treasury Secretary who, in boob like fashion, defines a strong currency as one that is hard to counterfeit, and through other statements makes it clear that the President's administration joins the Fed in proclaiming that it will do whatever it takes to depreciate the dollar -- making it the first time in history that both the President and the Fed are on record with policies that are anti-dollar, (2) opening of gold to citizens of China June 1, and (3) the imminent start of trading of a gold ETF. These are powerful fundamentals -- expressed in the short term -- to possibly trigger a diversion of the effects of the cycle on short term price action. Your chart work is also the clearest representation I have seen of the beginning of the gold bull and its continuation.
