Good point. I have trouble

interpreting the other (average of ratios). On the other hand this is what people look at, so there is a confounding effect. A bit like finding that people "go" on red traffic lights in Bizarro World, but if you are there you have little choice but to take that into account or feel pain. The analogy is extreme, but you know what I mean.
