Makes sense, but if that percentage is right then why not wait until tomorrow and possibly get them cheaper? Unless we start to taper off by tomorrow afternoon, I'll probably won't be buying any puts just yet as I'm usually a reactionary trader than an anticipatory one. I usually wait for the roll and then trade. Needless to say I miss out on many trend changes on morning gaps, but at least I'm surer of the timing of the trend change by waiting until it happens and not having money tied up in the meantime.
