Yes, I see what you are saying, I just think you overstate the ability of a party to direct jobs to a particular sector. The internet boom happened, as did the railroad and tulip booms, due to mania's. I don't think either party had much direction over it. Everyone wants to be as much of a first world nation as we in North America are, I don't see how we could not expect an erosion of the lock on jobs, manufacturing and wealth to be a natural occurrence. We are evolving, and that is not an easy process.
