Demand for housing has been high for the last 30 years or so, doesn't mean it would continue for the next 30 years.

Yes, population is growing (TFR among Hispanic origin is higher than 3), but not enough to replace the baby boomers, unless open the border with Mexico. Otherwise the US Social security would not be projected insolvent.

And yes, some houses would be abandoned. And I hope won't be the new ones instead of old ones.
