no not exactly. the rand is in a world of its own in my view. overvalued to say the least. but i expect the SARB to cut rates in their june meeting. that and the overvaluation makes me think the rand has a better chance of weakening than rising further. over 8/usd is good enough for me. 9+ was the low. this will strengthen the perforance of the SA miners. simple stuff. just a shift in accounting. per their reserves however, on a reserve basis alone, i think they are waaaaaaaaaaaaay undervalued as it is. but that is not what the world thinks at the moment. the world is still stuck on rand accounting performance for their dollar valued gold. the other stuff you mentioned has nothing to do with my thoughts on the subject, for better or worse.
