People I know are generally buying wiht the idea that sooner or later it will go up

They are wrong.

Try to explain to them that the US housing market is currently blown out of proportion with very high liquidity (i.e. a LOT of $$$ in circulation, growing every day) and very low interest rates. That there was an unreal incentive to borrow, and a lot of that money went to housing, since deposits earned you zip and the stock market was going down the drain. That the house prices in the US have reached record levels. That there is no more penned up demand.
