It is not a matter of politics, it is a matter of intellectual interests. For example, T.S. Eliot was a conservative, and yet he was a modernist in poetry. He was an Anglo- Catholic, and yet had a lively interest in Eastern philosophy. Ezra Pound was, in fact, a fascist, and yet he was a great promoter of Eastern poetry and literature, and translated some himself. Rudyard Kipling promoted imperialism, and yet he loved the exotica of India......
