EU may support TD-SCDMA in exchange for the Chinese government's endorsement of WCDMA, or seek some kind of cooperation between the two 3G standards as they share the same basic technology.
This is the conclusion of a Chinese delegation just returned from a trip in Europe. It noticed an "obvious" change in EU's attitude toward TD-SCDMA, praising TD-SCDMA as a supplement to WCDMA; China can use WCDMA to cover large areas and TD-SCDMA for densely populated areas. The delegation said it is also possible that EU uses WCDMA-TD-SCDMA alliance to compete with CDMA2000 in China.
