Verdad,

You will notice that I have not argued QCOM at all in this discourse. I am simply interested in trying to find what you and John apparently already see in the Wi-Fi opportunity. John's statements (and some of yours) regarding Wi-Fi are emphatic - He knows its a winner. I think that its a player, but how big, how soon and how much is an open question.

I might also point out that being backed by IBM and INTEL don't convince me of anything. Remember OS2. I still remember the awful process of installing that that POS and I am a techy. Remember when INTEL was going broke and had to get bailed out because it bet the farm on the wrong technology. Nothing is for sure and nothing is certain. I just want a couple of metrics to convince me.

Verdad:

Regarding past performance and profitability and Wi-Fi as a new technology....

Wi-Fi has been around for a while. I've been using it for over 3 years. My guess is there are 10's of millions of Wi-Fi users in the US today.

Regarding your reference to QCOM, ERICY or NOK investors in 1995, who do you compare them to today? CISCO, INTEL? Who are the investors today (and what are they invested in) that will be proving us wrong in the future?

And lastly, in reference to your comment on CDMA not growing in leaps and bounds, I think there is a lot of evidence today that the CDMA players are just approaching the starting line (WCDMA, 1X-EVDO and 1X1EVDV are just getting launched).
