Actually, HP is no saint either, I burned out when I worked there (few in the Valley will tell people they work too hard) and their idea of reward for a great, great job was 100 stock options... 200 if you did something good enough to get several above you promoted. 100 shares were a joke by Intel or Maxim standards but they sure made you feel like you hit the lottery. For H1B abuse, we'd have people come over from Singapore on H1B but the real goal was for us to train them to take our jobs and do them in a low tax country. BTW, none of this changes the fact I believe HP and AMAT are honest companies and they both do much for their communities.
