I think the real problem comes with savings, pensions and life insurance because all these are/were invested in the stockmarket and all have been smashed up. I suppose that's also why the middle-class are having it so hard because, besides having to provide for health, children's education, and home mortgage, they also have to put aside for their old age. And where is there to "put" these days?
