Oh, please don't drag me again into the death spiral of Israel/Palestine.

Remember the scene in Women in Love, where the woman who was drowning grabbed onto her lover who tried to save her, and pulled them both to their deaths?

That, to me, is Israel/Palestine, except that they are not lovers, but enemies. Both willing to drown as long as they can take their enemy with them.

When I hear the mutual recriminations from afar, I put my hands over my ears and run away. No. Not me. Let someone else save them. I really don't care anymore.

It's worse than handling contested custody cases all day long. After 18 years the kids grow up and it's all over.

Not so Israel/Palestine. The kids grow up and continue the same fight, over and over again.

(Note to non-native English speakers. "All over" and "over and over again" are opposites. No, I cannot explain why.)
