Long time no see, Urlman! Very interesting about using AI to determine investor chat board sentiment. Something I had considered doing at one time. Interesting to see that somebody did it.

Is there anything like that still in existence?

Actually, my idea was a bit different than this. The idea was to rate each post on a scale for various criteria - bullishness, hypetitude, personal attack, off-topic, etc. A group of advisors would rate sampled posts to train the network, and the network would then be able to rate each post on it's own.

Users could then choose to have posts hidden from them based on specific criteria. You could also have users do their own training if they wish, so that they wouldn't have to rely on the advisors tastes.

This is actually where I'd intended to go with stockclub.com. I just never found the time, as it was always a part-time project.

It was inspired by an early AI-based spam filter that I once used. You would rate each e-mail you get on a spam scale, and after about 100 messages, it was pretty well trained.

I had no idea AllPredictive was defunct. First I heard of them was when I was chatting with Matt one night about how easy it'd be to have a sort of mini-survey attached to each board that people would answer once each day. Just rank a stock on a scale of 1 to 10, and let premium members see the aggregate score, including historical scores graphed out.

Then he told me about AllPredictive and that they were running on SI.
