Who does Pinch answer to?

Here is the problem for the "Times," CM. We now know that the management was very slack with the National Reporters. It is extremely likely that Bragg was not the only one cutting corners. When they catch the others, and they will, what do they do? There are probably 5 to 10 more. Do they CYA, or do they punish and report it?

If they CYA, it will get out. The newsroom is a sieve. They know that, so they will probably punish. As this breaks on reporter after reporter, the rest of the press in this country will "Jackal." A chance to bring down the Times? They are all salivating at the thought.

Pinch is a very minor stockholder. As the media blows this up, his cousins, who were not too happy about putting him in charge in the first place, will be on him. Will he offer Raines as a sacrifice? Of course. He is not going to lose his position.

The outcome down the road? A much improved Times.
