a while back Contrary Investor had some stats showing an extreme increase in ARMs lately, compared with the 90s and even the 80s. anecdotally i hear people bragging about the 3-handle on their adjustable mortgages. why people wouldn't want to lock in at multigenerational lows is beyond me.

i'm still looking forward to a low 3-handle on the 30yr so that i can execute the Fannie Mae carry trade and buy bullion. then sell the bullion in a few years when POG has a 1-handle (as in more than $1000). and then put the proceeds into 30yr Treasurys with a 1-handle (as in more than 10%).

Most home equity loans are floating. I've been advising people to roll them in on a fixed for quite some time.
