I had a really good "mad" going most of the day because of my inability to reach anyone at the ISP. What the problem turned out to be was something I would've had them checking the instant they got in the door.

But, yes, that was definitely the longest 8 hours of my life. And it's only just now getting to the "funny because it's in the past" zone. I mean, 8 hours of hair-pulling and cussing and the fix was unplugging a cable from one port and moving it to the next port.

That it was a brand new Dell 2508 really bugs me. At least with the Hawkings switches, I've got 16 ports, so I could've afforded up to 8 dead ports.

I hope I never deal with your 48-hour nightmare. Wasn't sure I was gonna make it through 8!

Edit: Yep. My knowledge of Solaris, ports, SSH, and GSP went up something like 20-fold today. I really could easily grow to love Unix. Completely smokes DOS. Starting to hate that I'm going to be migrating away from it.
