Don't forget that the Mad Cow thing is an almost 100% UK problem, due to their
"very efficient, free and unregulated" meat and dairy industry, the pride of UK for so many
years.

Plus the fact that UK was targeted for bad book-keeping, ability to efficiently solve the
problem already in the 80s but the result became more of a system where the affected
cows were kept secrete, slaughtered or sold as fast as possible to avoid losses.

Luckily the french and other farmers already then protested so it was mainly Ireland
which become the object of illegal imports.

Additionally soon followed by the similar problems of detecting and tracking
down the big-foot-in-mouth desease.

Ouch, that dioxin thing also got started in UK, saving money by burning
lots of garbage at too low temperatures and a lot of deformed cows and
dogs around the plants.

And UK is not yet a member of EMU, although scrambling to fix all
their regulations and laws, tax-evasions,etc..
