We went by Pearl Harbor yesterday. Saw the museum and the Arizona memorial. The USS Constellation was there, too, back from Iraq. Amazing.

I had something profound happen there. Sometimes it's the little things that make an impact on me.

As I walked through the museum, I could not help but shed a tear. It was such an emotional thing to see. Just call me too patriotic. That's fine. I am.

I was standing by a large picture and display. I was alone until a guy about my size and age walked up and stood beside me. Just me and him, staring at this display, which had some Japanese exhibits.

I had my handkerchief in my hand. I looked down and he, too, had a handkerchief in his hand, the same as I did. I figured his Dad fought in the war, too. The difference was, he was Japanese.

We looked at each other in the eyes, and gave each other a respectful nod. No words were necessary. Both, grown men from different nations that once were at war, standing there with a tear in their eyes, and their handkerchiefs in hand.

RR,

To your dad, father-in-law, and all others who sacrificed themselves for our freedoms, I share my overwhelming gratitude.

Hope your walk was wonderful, RR. Sun is finally peeking out here after days/weeks of cool rainy weather.
