I'll take a look. If I'm not mistaken, the search database is MySQL. Or some database here is.

It's important to have stored procs, though. Very important. And UDF's.

As I've discussed on iHub, read speed is everything. Inserts don't have to be too fast. In the big picture, inserts are VERY rare. Maybe 5k or so (including PM's) happen per day, compared to well over a million reads.
