eplay, I think people are using real state as a reserve of value in a similar way people use to use brick and mortar as a hedge against inflation in Brazil during hyper-inflation years.

Only that people are counting that they will seel the property once they retire. Buy something much cheaper where they want to spend their time and live off the proceeds.

I'm not passing a judgement on if that works or not, just my perception.
